Ellie Girl

Elle is one of our current SNIPSA fosters. She is a DDB rescue dog, and she loves her new life indoors. Elle is a hound mix with a beautiful heart-shape marking on her face. She loves all people and loves playing with her doggy friends. She is housetrained, crate-trained, and has wonderful manners. She is not destructive and loves sleeping on her doggy bed every night. She likes playing with her Kong toy and figuring out how to get the treats out.

Bye, Bandit!

Bandit went home with his forever family two weeks ago. He now lives in the Dallas area with his mom, dad, two teenagers, and a toddler. He also has a furry brother, Jake, who he loves. Jake is also a Spaniel mix. We are thrilled that he has such a wonderful new family!

If It Should Be

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy months.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come -- please let me go.

Take me where my need they'll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve -- it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we three, these months;
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Going Veg

I have gone vegetarian several times. My reasons? It's good for your health, it's good for the environment, and most importantly it's good for the animals. We have just starting eating vegetarian again. It is very difficult, and we haven't gotten into the swing of it yet. We have planned our first weekly menu, and now I just have to go grocery shopping for it. I am missing the convenience of a fast-food burger, but hopefully with time and practice I will get better at this. I do believe that every veggie meal counts for good, so all your efforts aren't a wash if you slip up from time to time. It's just like dieting - you have to get right back on the wagon.

Mmmm, bacon. I mean...

Tyler

This is a dog my husband rescued from a life of abuse and neglect. He was never properly socialized and had become a threat to both people and other dogs. My husband has gained Tyler's trust, and he is currently living a beautiful life in the country. With some more time and attention my husband hopes to rehome Tyler so that he has a home and human of his own.

2010 Update

Sammy

Teddy

Currently in the house:
the permanent pack (8)
SNIPSA dogs: Camilla, Elle, Dasher, Teddy, Sammy the pup (5)
Special projects Stan & Mama (2)
Grand total: 15 dogs

Bandit got adopted over the holidays and Rudy went back to Shaina's. We visited Tyler out at SARA sanctuary. We brought Teddy home (DDB rescue). We saw Sammy the miracle pup make progress every day towards his full recovery.

We have another Big Fix coming up on January 23. We will be at a new location, so there is much anticipation to see how it will turn out at this new locale. Also, we will be finding out more about the position Adam interviewed for at the ADL in this new year. We are excited to see where this new year will take us in the rescue world.

Pictures of Teddy & Sammy to come.
